Tyler Rackelmann
Outdoor Guide + Team Member
Tyler Rackelmann grew up in Mountain View, CA and felt the pull towards a variety of team sports his whole life. At University of California, Merced, he first felt the pull of rock climbing on a school club excursion and never looked back. After he earned his bachelor's in environmental sciences, he got rid of everything he couldn’t fit into a 80 liter backpack.
Tyler lived in Yosemite out of the aforementioned backpack for three years, obsessing over and climbing many of its big walls. For the next four years, he diabolically continued to live the dirtbag dream. He divided his all-too free-time climbing and guiding in Utah, Washington, and California, while he moved up in wheel estate from small truck to minivan to van. Finally, stability became a priority, and Tyler spent a year in San Diego where he picked up surfing, then moved out to Hood River.
These days, Tyler works as an Outdoor Guide and Front Desk team member for Brimstone, and is super stoked to see how the guiding program can grow.
If he's not on the rocks, Tyler is either injured or distracting himself with other hobbies, like jogging, hiking in search of shrumps (mushroom bumps), reading a book, surfing or playing a board/video game. He loves to learn new skills, and he hopes that, by the time you read this, his windsurf board is no longer collecting cobwebs!
