Angela chun

Head Coach + Youth Programs Director

Angela was born in Los Angeles, but grew up climbing the hillsides, trees and scaffolding of rural South Korea during her early childhood.

In 3rd grade, she returned to the states and participated in just about every sport from then through college–until, thanks to a gifted membership to a local climbing gym, she discovered the world of climbing and routesetting. Angela found infinite reward in creating and solving puzzles with the body among a supportive community that inspired and motivated her to new heights on and off the wall.

Though Angela graduated with a degree in Visual Communications from Rhode Island School of Design, she found little joy in the commercial art world. Instead, she dedicated her time to developing the first Youth Climbing Team in Long Beach, CA, and has since taken her teams to podium finishes at USA Climbing competitions. Angela is devoted to coaching and routesetting for climbers of all ages and abilities, and is stoked to bring her best to Hood River.

Outside of climbing, Angela is still a creator and explorer at heart, making art, music, and (mostly) yummy food with her loved ones. Her insatiable curiosity has taken her to paint murals in Cambodia, build playgrounds in Ghana and start schools in Mauritania. When she needs to rest, you can bet that Angela is hanging out with her furry pals, Freeway and Meow.
